
薛天,讲席教授,中国科学技术大学党委常委、校长助理,视觉健康全国重点实验室副主任。任中国医学科学院学术咨询委员会学部委员,国务院学位委员会生物学学科评议组成员、教育部高校生物技术教学指导委员会委员、基金委生命科学部专家咨询委员会委员、中国生理学会副理事长等。
长期致力于视觉生理和眼科领域的基础与转化研究,围绕光感受生理及其对生命过程调控、视网膜和感光细胞的功能与疾病、视觉再生修复等方面展开研究。通讯作者论文发表在多篇Cell(2019, 2022, 2023, 2025)、Nature、Nature Neuroscience、Neuron等学术期刊和Annual Review of Neuroscience等综述,开发的眼科基因治疗药物进入II期临床试验。曾获基金委杰出青年基金、创新研究群体、科技部重点研发计划项目首席。研究工作曾获“中国科学十大进展”、中国生命科学十大进展、Cell杂志2019年最佳论文、中国科学院杰出科技成就奖、新基石研究员、科学探索奖、谈家桢生命科学创新奖、张香桐神经科学青年科学家奖、安徽省自然科学一等奖等。薛天教授的研究在国际上开拓和引领了“光调控生命过程”新领域。
Tian Xue, Deputy Director of the State Key Laboratory of Eye Health, Chair Professor, Member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee, and Assistant to the President at the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC).
He has long been engaged in basic and translational research in visual physiology and ophthalmology, focusing on the physiology of light perception and its regulation of life processes, the function and diseases of the retina and photoreceptors, and visual regeneration and repair. As corresponding author, his research has been published in leading journals including Cell (2019, 2022, 2023, 2025), Nature, Nature Neuroscience, Neuron, and the Annual Review of Neuroscience. The ophthalmic gene therapy drug developed by his team has entered Phase II clinical trials.
He has received the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, led an NSFC Innovative Research Group, and served as Chief Scientist of the National Key R&D Program of China. His research achievements have been recognized by numerous honors, including the Top 10 Scientific Advances of China, Top 10 Advances in Life Sciences in China, Cell Best Paper of 2019, Outstanding Scientific Achievement Award of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, New Cornerstone Investigator Program, Xplorer Prize, Tan Jiazhen Life Science Innovation Award, Zhang Xiangtong Young Neuroscientist Award, and the First Prize of Anhui Provincial Natural Science Award.
His research has pioneered and led a new international field of “Light Regulation of Life Processes.”
